1. Privacy-by-Design Architecture

Tacit is engineered from the ground up for macOS with privacy as a foundational constraint. Unlike web-based or Electron applications, Tacit runs as a native macOS process with strict sandboxing and zero background tracking.

2. Biometric Data & Voiceprint Protection (Zero Acoustic Profiling)

We do not collect, generate, extract, or store biometric identifiers, voiceprints, or vocal acoustic profiles. When you speak, audio is processed transiently in volatile system memory. Raw audio waveforms are destroyed immediately after text transcription. Unlike browser-based dictation or cloud recording tools, your acoustic signature is never uploaded to external servers, protecting you against voice profiling, behavioral tracking, and unauthorized AI voice cloning.

3. Speech & Audio Processing

Local Mode (Apple Silicon MLX): Audio captured by your microphone is processed 100% on-device utilizing the Apple Silicon Neural Engine. In local mode, audio data never leaves your Mac, is never uploaded to any server, and is discarded from memory immediately after transcription.
Cloud AI Mode (Pro Tier): When using Cloud AI features, audio and text streams are transmitted over encrypted TLS 1.3 channels directly to our inference endpoints. Data is processed transiently strictly to fulfill the completion request. We do not store your audio recordings, and your data is never used to train machine learning models.

3. Clipboard & Accessibility Permissions

Tacit requests macOS Accessibility and Input Monitoring permissions solely to provide system-wide hotkeys, active application context detection, and automatic text replacement at your cursor. Tacit does not log keystrokes. Clipboard history is stored locally in an encrypted SQLite database on your Mac and automatically ignores entries from recognized password managers (such as 1Password, Bitwarden, and Apple Keychain).

4. Payment & Billing Information

All commercial transactions are processed securely through certified, PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways (PayPal and Stripe). Tacit never receives, handles, or stores your full credit card number or bank credentials. We only receive verification tokens, customer email, and transaction status to generate your software license key.

5. Telemetry & Analytics

Tacit contains zero third-party advertising trackers and zero invasive telemetry. Crash reports are strictly opt-in and stripped of all personal data before submission.
